In a world of shifting loyalties, people pleasing and watering down of the gospel of truth its high time we intentionally choose to declare our stand as born again believers. We need to be either hot and on fire for the gospel of Christ or totally cold. In Revelation 3:15-16, Jesus speaks to the church in Laodicea the wealthiest of the seven cities and he says “I know all the things that you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you are one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!. The church had become lukewarm and thus distasteful, they didn’t take a stand for anything, their wealth made them think that they were self-sufficient. The lord says that to those that are lukewarm they will be spat out of his mouth, they will not belong to him anymore. This is a call to declare a stand, to intentionally choose living for God and God alone. We cannot continue living a life of compromise and still expect God to use us for his purpose in a mighty way.

I hear people say “where is the God of Elijah?” but the real question should be “where is the faithful servant of God, Elijah?” Elijah in 1st kings 18:15-21 is at mount Carmel, this was a contest between him and the false prophets, the king and all the people of Israel, in verse 21 he says to the people of Israel “how much longer will you waver, hobbling between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him! But if Baal is God, then follow him! But the people remained silent.” Elijah needed them to make a choice but they did not say anything….remember indecision is a decision. They refused to take a stand, they wanted to be in the middle, they knew God to be the only true God but still wanted to enjoy the sinful pleasures and other benefits that came with following Ahab in the idolatrous worship. Elijah was the only prophet who choose to stand with the true god, he boldly stood against 850 prophets who had compromised their standards and choose to worship an idol.

how much longer will you waver, hobbling between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him! But if Baal is God, then follow him! But the people remained silent.

Ist KINGS 18:21

Shadrack, Meshach and Abednego found themselves in almost similar situation. In Daniel 3:1-30, the king had set up a golden statue and given a decree that at the sound of a flute, horn and other musical instruments everyone should bow down and worship the statue anyone that refuses to obey the decree was to be thrown into the blazing furnace. The three friends knew that this was sin before God and so they refused to compromise their standards, their response in verse 16-18 blesses my heart, this is what they said to the king, “O, Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, your Majesty. But even if he doesn’t we want to make it clear to you, your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the golden statue you have set up.” I call this sure allegiance, a clear stand that no matter what you choose to do to us, we are not backing down, our decision is clear and its final, we serve a living God and no matter what happens to us it’s still him that we will serve.
Later In 1st kings Elijah poured water on his sacrifice and called on to God, the Lord answered with fire that consumed everything on the altar and even licked the water that was in the trench! In the case shadrack, Meshach and Abednego the furnace fire was increased seven time that even those who were asked to throw them in the furnace were killed by the flames, but after the three friends were thrown inside the furnace a fourth person appeared in the fire. Daniel 3:25 “Look! Nebuchadnezzar shouted, I see four men, unbound, walking around in the fire unharmed! And the fourth looks like a god! The Lord sent help for them. He is the same God yesterday, today and forever more, He hasn’t changed, if he did it for them he is going to do it for us too ours is just to remain faithful, to exalt Him above everything else in our lives.

Friends it is time we seriously looked at our walk with God and the kind of decisions we are making, do they clearly show where our stand is? We will never know where we stand until we are forced into making a choice between God and money, between God and men, between God and personal ambition, God and self, God and human love, and if God will take second place every time then those other things will be exalted and they will have become a god in our lives. We may protest but let it be known the proof is in the choices we makes day after day throughout our lives. Not that all this things are bad but where have we placed them? What do we give the first Priority? We can be here seriously praying against corruption but when we find our self in a hot spot we choose to bribe, we find an easy way out instead of paying the price of what it means to be a person who walks in the Light.

Standing Jesus firm is;

  • to learn how to stand; practice to get used to it.
  • Dozens of different moments of yes to God and no to self,
  • The discipline of prayer and reading Gods word,
  • Coming to God in a posture of repentance and a contrite heart
We can’t expect to stand for God without practicing, otherwise when time comes we will have no point of reference on what to do.

Jesus Christ said in Luke 9:23-27, that if any of you want to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross DAILY and follow me. This cross was not to be taken up once, it is our everyday choice. The price of walking in the light is taking up your cross daily, it’s enduring the consequences of saying yes to Jesus and no to flesh, apostle Paul tells timothy in 2nd timothy 2:10 that he was willing to endure anything if it will glorify God in the end, this too should be our motto in life. Remember we are the letter read by everyone according to 2nd Corinthians 3:2, we are also called the salt of the earth, a city build on a hill that cannot be hidden(Matthew 5:13) and finally we are the ambassadors of Christ(2nd Corinthians 5:20) here on earth so our choices to represent whom we follow.
Let your choices dhow that you are on the Lords side!!
Live a life of a true disciple of Jesus

The perfect friend

Have you ever tried to make new friends? Well that’s not my specialty. I would rather sit at a corner of a room with a book and some cute headphones either listening to something or nothing at all, than try start a conversation with a stranger. Sometimes the headphones have worked but there are days I have met the kind of people that would not just let me be, those who are always saying something. Most times it would be a complaint about something happening or just random questions. Those moments I am forced to be polite and considerate enough to engage. But is this not how some beautiful and amazing friendships are made?

#grateful for some good friendships😍😄😍

The first times it’s very awkward with little or nothing to talk about at all, as the friendship grows you start celebrating birthdays, and on that first few birthdays you buy them gifts which you realize later that it was not their favorite. Sometimes you do surprise lunch visits only to realize that your friend is allergic to whatever you made them for lunch. Well, all this hurdles do not terminate the friendship, instead they become an opportunity to know each other better….that is as you continue to commune, you learn things about each other that helps make the friendship stronger. With time, you easily make conversations, and sometimes you have to carry them forward because time is no longer enough for you. The intimacy of the friendships depends on the authenticity, vulnerability, and consistency of conversations.

There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.
JOHN 15:13-15

God calls us friends and not just casual friends but intimate friends, He wants us to know Him more, He desires to reveal himself to us and transform us to be more like Him. God yearns for a deeper relationship with his creation( James 4:8a) “draw nigh unto God and He will draw nigh to you….” like that friend who makes the first move and engages you in a conversation so is our God, he made the first move, he took the initiative to approach us by laying down his life just to show us how much he loves us……..oh what a love! Selfless love! What’s left of us is to accept this love….but how do we do that??

It’s is clear in Roman 10:9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. Thats how we are made right with God. Once we’ve prayed that prayer then we now develop our friendship with him. Our friendship with God needs us to abide in Him. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot, bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.(John 15:4). You may be wondering, how do I abide in Him?? How do I develop an intimate friendship with God?? Isn’t going to church and serving in a ministry not enough??

Well, truthfully, it’s essential to go to church. serving in a ministry and fellowshiping with other believers is vital, but that it is not enough to build a relationship with God. You need to create time to personally spend with Him. You need to look for a place and time to exclusively spend with Him and him alone. It’s in this place that you lay your heart bear before him, no secrets, no lies, no facade, let this be the place where you dig deeper into his word to know His character, His desires and His ways. At first it might to be a little bit uncomfortable because you might not feel his presence but those are just feelings because we call him Emmanuel- God with us not just when we feel Him but at all times. Keep plunging into Him, eventually you will see and feel change, maybe you could not last 10min, with time you will find yourself going for hours and sometimes, not wanting to leave. It’s in this place that you learn to hear his voice-John 10:3, He will no longer be a stranger to you but a friend that sticks closer than a brother!

Many of us forsake that place either because of our past sins that sometimes haunt us, the knowledge of that we have all fallen short of the glory of God or the perception of who God is, too holy and perfect to want to hear what we have to say to him…..All this is true he is indeed a Holy God but more than that He is a friend that is moved by compasssion in our greatest weaknesses, failures and pains. A friend that rejoices and celebrates over our success, yes He is that friends that is neither going to leave us nor forsake us.
He knows you
He loves you
He is for you
Allow Him be your friend and befriend him back💜💜.

Are you limiting God??

You probably saw the above question and wondered whether you read it right. I mean, is there even a possibility of limiting the ALMIGHTY GOD? The God who is able to do exceedingly abundant beyond what we could ever think or imagine? (Ephesians 3:20). Well, Let us take a look at a story in the bible and find out whether it is possible to limit God.

In 2nd Kings 13:14-25, we find a man named Elisha, who happened to be a prophet of God. He was almost breathing his last and that scared the ruling king of Israel at that time. The king decided to pay Elisha a visit, and it was during then that Elisha asked the king to take a bow and an arrow, asked to open the eastern window, and then told him to make the first shot through the window. That symbolized the Lord’s victory over Israelites’ enemies, Aram. The king was then told to pick up other arrows and strike them against the ground. He was not told how many to pick, so he struck 3 times. That did not please Elisha at all. Why was he angry? Let us find out;
Elisha told the king “You should have struck the ground five or six times then you would have beaten Aram until it was entirely destroyed; now you will be victorious only 3 times!” Well, now we know he had more arrows but chose to use only three, he had more opportunities.

The Lord had already promised victory over Arameans when the first shot was taken by the king; they had victory only thrice when he could have taken more strikes for complete triumph. It is the same way Our God has given us many promises in his word -THE BIBLE- but it’s up to us to fully live them out. We have prayers, and they are our arrows, and when we shoot, we do it repeatedly, ‘Praying in the spirit at all times and on every occasion’ like we are encouraged in Ephesians 6:18. Do not just shoot your arrow once; in fact you should never stop shooting.1 Thessalonians 5:17 urges, ‘Pray continually’

Our Lord and savior instructed his disciples to pray countless times; when happy – give thanks, when worried – cast your burdens unto Him, in all circumstances keep praying. Since we’d not shoot arrows without targets, we do not pray without faith. Prayers should be accompanied with great faith, ‘the kind of faith that does not doubt’ Matthew 21:21). If faith, as little as a mustard seed is able to shift a mountain, so no matter the size of your faith, shoot it in prayers.

So, are you limiting God? Is it possible to limit God? Yes, it is possible, by lack of prayer and lack of faith in prayerThis therefore calls for devotion to prayer and growing faith. Let us go back to the place of consistently and earnestly seeking the face of God, as we believe that He will surely answer our prayers.

Our Lord and our God we pray that we may receive strength to continue seeking your face, May we receive a new and fresh desire to pursue you . Lord may our lamps never lack oil to keep them burning and help us to seek you with consuming zeal and earnest expectation that you will answer our prayers . Amen!!

Be still and know that I am God.

Difficult seasons of life have a way of cripple our faith and trust in God, they sometimes bring about disbelieve, fear, doubt and also anxiety in our hearts. Remember how the Israelites saw the ten plagues happen which only affected the Egyptians while God protected them. Yes….they saw all that but when they got to a hard place where before them was a sea, around them were hills and behind were the egytptians coming after them. In that moment fear overtook them….they complained and interestingly to them it was better to be slaves than to die on their way to the promised land. Similarly sometimes we complain, we get tempted to go back to where the Lord delivered us from forgetting of all good things that the Lord has already done for us.

It’s in that place of fear and dispair that the Lord asked them to be still and see his deliverance. What happened after that was a miracle that revealed a new nature of God to them which is HE IS A WAY MAKER. He is a God in the business of doing what seems impossible to man. In the wilderness when they lacked food, he was to them JEHOVAH JIREH-The Lord Our Provider. When Zerubbabel and the isrealites faced opposition while building the temple of the Lord he became to them The Lord Our Defender.

So in the midst of our turmoil the Lord is reminding us to be still, trust Him, wait on Him and surely he will come to our rescue. Let us remember that while going through a storm the Lord is teaching us something new or reminding us who He is and so in our waiting May we open our hearts to learn and be expectant that he will do more than we could ever think or imagine! Hallelujah!! He is a marvelous God!!
